Hello and Welcome!

What is Spinal Decompression Therapy?

Spinal Decompression therapy is a safe, non- surgical treatment method for patients who suffer from neck and back pain caused by bulging or herniated disks, degenerative disk disease, pinched nerves, sciatica, radiating pain to arm or leg, facet syndrome, and spinal stenosis. A decompression treatment gently distracts and releases the targeted part of the spine through systematic pre-calculated force by the Spinal Decompression table. As the table separates and releases, a negative pressure change is created within the intervertebral disc, surrounding soft tissue and spinal joints. The reduction of pressure inside the disc (decompression) allows the disc bulge or herniation to centralize and the nutrients to be pulled back into the disc. Rehydration of the disc and surrounding structures creates a physiological change which decreases pain levels and assists the body’s natural healing process. Patients typically experience significant improvement within few treatments. Prior to the treatment, your Max Rehab therapist will carefully evaluate your condition to determine the type of traction, the force of the distraction, the most comfortable position to reduce symptoms and the duration of the treatment.
